A right triangle is 3-4-5.
The equation is 3^2 + 4^2 = 5^2.
The 2 sides (each squared) and added together will give you the diagonal. Unfortunately the diagonal answer is ALSO squared just like each side was. So you have to "unsquare" (get the square root of) the answer you got for the diagonal line.
